What To Expect
Riding through rice paddies and forests, we take you to visit Wat Pa Phon Phao temple and Ban Phanom village. In the village you have the chance to learn traditional hand-weaving skills. In addition, when we arrive at Ban Ann pier, you will have a boat trip along Kharn River to elephant camp. An unique and fun trip to explore the countryside around Luang Prabang.Description
From 8:30am, we will meet you at your hotel. After picking your bike, we leave Luang Prabang for natural and remote areas. Our first stop is Wat Pa Phon Phao – a forest temple famous for the teachings of Ajahn Saisamut. This large golden stupa contains three inside levels plush an outside terrace with a view into the countryside and Luang Prabang. The inside walls are painted with many Buddhist stories and moral admonitions.
After that, we will go to Ban Phanom – a village of Thai Lue people (a tribe with its origins in Southern China). It is well known for cotton and silk hand-weaving. Here you have the opportunity to learn how to make the traditional Lao Cotton on a weaving loom. The dirt road will bring us through teakwood plantations and rice fields up the Nam Khan Valley. We will pass the tomb of Henry Mouhot – the French explorer who showed Angkor Wat to the world. Henry Mouhot perished of malaria in 1861 in Luang Prabang.
We then continue our bike adventure through rice paddies and forests before we arrive at Ban Ann pier and take a long trail boat along Kharn River to Tadsae Elephnat Camp. Upon arrival, you will enjoy elephant ride about 30 minutes to the jungle nearby. Around 12:00pm, you will have lunch and relax or even take a swim. After that, we return to Ban Ann pier and ride back to town.
End trip at your hotel.
