Description

Pick you up at your hotel at 8am, we depart for Wat Visoun, nowadays known as Buddhist art museum. Dating back to 1513 and the reign of King Wisunarat, Wat Visoun is Luang Prabang’s oldest temple and was once home to the Prabang Buddhas. Over the years, the temple has acted as home of an array of religious artefacts and precious items relating to both Buddhism and the Royal family. Besides, you will visit the lumpy hemispherical stupa called That Makmo as it shaped like a watermelon. Then, we proceed to Wat Mai, one of the city’s most sumptuous monasteries, with a five – tiered roof and exquisitely carved veranda.
Later, take a walk in the old city and visit Wat Sene, the perfect place for meditation. Enjoy a lunch at a local restaurant before continuing our trip.
Our next stop in afternoon session is Wat Xieng Thong at the tip of peninsula. The oldest and most beautiful temple of the UNESCO World Heritage town dates back from 16th century. The roofs sweep lower to the ground, glass colored panels adorn the walls of the chapels and there is stunning “tree of life” mosaic set on its west exterior hall. You can see the residential neighbourhood of the peninsular, before climbing up to Phousi Hill for a view over the city, its surrounding and the Mekong River.

Trekking To Explore The Real Laos Countryside - Private Tour

Leaving Luang Prabang, we will trek through canyons, passing forest and hills to reach ethnic villages of Khmu people and Hmong people. Description

Day 01 Trekking the Longhut Trail and Khmu Homestay (L/D)
In the morning, we pick you up at your hotel in Luang Prabang and depart to the boat station on the bank of Nam Khan River. From here you cross Nam Khan River by boat and begin ascent into the mountains. You will trek through canyons to reach villages and small lakes. Our trekking trail will take normally 6 hours with breaks included. Under wet condition, it may take 7 – 8 hours and the trek trail is more difficult.
We arrive at the Khmu village in the late evening. You will meet your homestay families and have the dinner prepared by your guide. After that, you can go exploring the village with your guide and enjoy drink with local people. This night you will stay in the village.

Day 02 Trekking the Thinpa Trail and Tad Sae Waterfall (B/L)
In the morning, you will have breakfast in your homestay. We then set out for about 2 our trekking along the river side through the rice fields and forest; and making your way up the hillside to a Hmong village named “Ban Tinpha” – a wonderful place where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. After that, we continue trekking downhill to a village along the river named “Ban Houay Yen’’. From here we board a local boat for a relaxing ride on Nam Khan River to reach Tad Sae Waterfalls (seasonal, available from August to January). Lunch will be served as your choice: at the village before the boat ride or at the waterfall. Coming to Tad Sae Waterfall, you can relax and go swimming in the pools at the base of the falls. Afterward, we take the boat return to boat station and then our driver will take you back to your hotel in Luang Prabang. End trip.

DAY 1: Luang Prabang - Lao Spirit Resort
We will meet you at our appointment (airport or town) and depart to Lao Spirit Resort – a beautiful place surrounded by lush green nature and a unique view into the magnificent hills and mountains. On the way, you will visit hand-weaving village, tomb of Henri Mouhot – the French explorer who popularized Angkor Wat of Cambodia – and some historic destinations in Luang Prabang town. When we arrive at resort, you check in resort and enjoy the atmosphere here. The nearby Nam Khan River and elephant camp which is opposite the resort give the perfect setting for your relaxed stay. After the dinner, it’s your free time to relax in a tranquil evening away from the crowd and with the sound of nature. This night you will stay in your deluxe bungalow.
DAY 2: Elephant riding and trekking
In the morning, you will have breakfast at the resort. After that, we go to elephant camp. First, you take time to meet and feed the elephants at the river during their bathing time. Then you experience elephant riding and trekking. The tour guides you from elephant camp to Tad Sae Waterfall and Khmu hill tribe village (in dry season from February to July, we use different trails). A stunning landscape, the quietness and the lush nature gives you a relaxed stay on the back of elephants. You and your elephant will go through forests and along Nam Khan River. From here you take a boat trip to Tad Sae Waterfall. Here you can hang out for lunch and some swimming in cool water. After lunch, you start discovering the tropic surrounding. A short trek leads you to Khmu Village, where you get an insight in daily life and culture of this hill-tribe village. Most of people here are farmers or fishermen and live from their slash and burn tradition. Don’t hesitate to ask them any question with the support of your tour guide. After a break in the village, you go back to the resort and enjoy your night there.
DAY 3: Kayaking on the Nam Khan river to Luang Prabang
In the morning, you have breakfast in the resort and relax in the wonderful atmosphere. After that, we move to the kayak station on the bank of Nam Khan River. After safety and equipment check, you start kayaking on Nam Khan River. You can see some small rapids, little villages and fishermen along the river. After that, we transfer to your next hotel in Luang Prabang or to the airport. End trip.

From 9am, we start our tour with a visit to the major food market in Luang Prabang. Your guide will explain you about materials in the market. After that, we transfer to our garden to cook and enjoy Laos dishes. Here are the menu we will cook:

Kayaking On Nam Ou River - Full Day Tour - Private Tour

This is the tour for anyone looking for a day of kayaking with exciting whitewater sections. The Nam Ou River is the largest local tributary to the mighty Mekong River near Luang Prabang and generally offers the most exciting kayaking for strong swimmers and those with some kayaking experience. High water season (August to January):
In the morning, we will pick you up at your hotel in Luang Prabang and depart to Ban Houay Leuang – a village on the bank of Nam Ou River. We will start kayaking on Nam Ou River, through spectacular mountains covered with jungle and traditional riverside villages of Hmong and Khmu people. Water conditions varies widely with the season and water levels. Generally, you can expect approximately 2 – 3 hours kayaking with numerous sections of rapids suitable for confident swimmers with some experience kayaking. Our total kayaking distance is about 15km. You will have a picnic lunch on the riverbanks. And our kayak will finish at Ban Pha Teung (village). We’ll wrap up the day with a visit on return drive to the “Whiskey Village’’ – a Mekong riverside village which is famous for its rice whiskey. After that we continue driving back to Luang Prabang. End trip at your hotel.
Low water season, February to July:
In this period, the itinerary is the same except the kayaking is extended to the Nam Ou Bridge for 21 km (13 mi) medium kayaking normally taking approximately 4-5 hours. The kayaking gets a little more exciting and technical as there are more exposed rocks.

Our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel at 8am. Our first destination is Royal Palace Museum, which houses the most important treasures of Laos’ recent past. We take a short walk to the boat pier of Luang Prabang behind the Museum. We board on the boat and begin our cruise along the amazing Mekong which takes us through idyllic scenes of rural riverside life and spectacular scenery. On our way, we stop at Thin Hong, a picturesque village and get a glimpse of daily life of rural residents.   Continue our trip until reaching the beautiful Pak Ou Caves which sit amongst the limestone cliffs where the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers meet. Pak Ou is one of the most respected holy sites in Laos. It has a history dating back thousands of years with over 4,000 Buddha icons.
There are two caves to visit, Tham Ting and Tham Phoum crammed with myriad Buddha images. In the lower cave, a photogenic group of Buddhas are silhouetted against the stunning riverine backdrop. These caves combine to create a shrine to the river spirit and Lord Buddha.
Later, we return to Luang Prabang by boat. Our trip would not be perfect without a visit to Ban Xang Khong, a handmade paper village, and a drop at the old city for a walk or shop at Hmong market. End trip at 5.30pm.

After the boat trip crossing Nam Khan River, we start hiking through jungle up to a mid-mountain Lao Theung village of Khmu people. Here you can see the daily life of local people, ask them couples of question with the help from your guide, and wander around in the small village. Say goodbye with friendly villagers, we enter the different world of a grander scale dominated by some jungle, soaring limestone rock faces and flourishing ferns.
Trekking forward a steep rocky track, we ascend to the final destination – Lao Sung village of Hmong people. It is an isolated and quaint village high in the mountains overrun by roaming livestock. Here you will enjoy lunch in a local, humble home to take part in a unique encounter. After the meal, you have the chance to listen to the stories from local people and even ask your questions about their way of life up here. After this tranquil pause, we start our descent back through other small villages along the way. You will follow a little stream until reaching Nam Khan River. After a short boat trip, we’re back to boat station. Our driver will take you back to your hotel in Luang Prabang. End trip.
