Pak Ou Cave Full Day Tour - Private Tour

What To Expect

The Pak Ou Caves are among the most revered holy sites in Laos. A boat trip on the Mekong River to this famous attraction near Luang Prabang offers a pleasant boat cruise that combines a visit of the culturally important caves with a superb day out amongst the fabulous riverside landscapes and local villages. This trip certainly will satisfy your craving for cultural and religious experiences as you will stop at a number of caves, local village and market.

Description

Our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel at 8am. Our first destination is Royal Palace Museum, which houses the most important treasures of Laos’ recent past. We take a short walk to the boat pier of Luang Prabang behind the Museum. We board on the boat and begin our cruise along the amazing Mekong which takes us through idyllic scenes of rural riverside life and spectacular scenery. On our way, we stop at Thin Hong, a picturesque village and get a glimpse of daily life of rural residents.   Continue our trip until reaching the beautiful Pak Ou Caves which sit amongst the limestone cliffs where the Mekong and Nam Ou rivers meet. Pak Ou is one of the most respected holy sites in Laos. It has a history dating back thousands of years with over 4,000 Buddha icons.
There are two caves to visit, Tham Ting and Tham Phoum crammed with myriad Buddha images. In the lower cave, a photogenic group of Buddhas are silhouetted against the stunning riverine backdrop. These caves combine to create a shrine to the river spirit and Lord Buddha.
Later, we return to Luang Prabang by boat. Our trip would not be perfect without a visit to Ban Xang Khong, a handmade paper village, and a drop at the old city for a walk or shop at Hmong market. End trip at 5.30pm.
