What To Expect
This is a trek tour taking you to riverside communities famous for their stunning mountainous scenery on the bank of Nam Ou River. Hiking through jungle and mountains, you arrive at villages of Hmong, Lao Leum and Khmu people.
Description
Day 01 Naaluang Trek – Multi ethnic hike (L,D)
We meet each other at your hotel and start our tour. After a short ride, we start walking on small paths passing rice paddies and through preserved forest with huge trees and great view. As your decision, we will stop to have lunch in the jungle setting whenever you want. After that, we continue trekking to a perfectly preserved Laos style village. Coming here, you can see traditional houses, farmland and jungle covered hills. Our guide will introduce you about the local tradition, Lao lowland style of weaving and other activities. Walking around the village, you can learn more about their life and the differences between the ethnic groups. After enjoying the local dinner here, you take your time to explore the place by yourself. This night you will stay overnight in a local homestay.
Day 02 Jungle Trek to the river and cruise to a riverside village homestay (B,L)
In the morning, you have breakfast in your homestay. Saying goodbye with people here, we depart on one of the most beautiful jungle trails in the area bound for Nam Ou River. You will trek through bamboo forests and enjoy beautiful scenery around. When we arrive, we board a boat cruising upriver to a pristine riverside Thai Lu village, which is famous for its weaving. Enjoy your night in this beautiful village.
Day 03 River Explorer, caves, and waterfalls (L,D)
After breakfast, you will take a boat cruising downriver and explore sites and communities on our return trip to Nong Khiaw. Our first stop is the famous Ban Muang Ngoi (village), where you can explore the local agrarian community at our leisure including a visit to a local cave named Tam Pha Noi. From there, we continue by boat to Ban Sop Khong (village) and hike to a waterfall (seasonal). We’ll have lunch on the way and then return to Nong Khiaw by boat. End trip at Nong Khiaw.
